Obituary of Margaret A. Twomey
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret (Peggy) Twomey, 65, of Cortland, New York lost her hard-fought battle with cancer on November 18, 2021 at Hospicare and Palliative Care, in Ithaca, NY. Peggy was born in Cortland, New York on September 11, 1956, daughter of Bob and Aelene Twomey. Peggy graduated for Corland High School and studied to be an LPN at TC3. She began her nursing career at Cortland Memorial Hospital in 1976, where she worked for many years in pediatrics, med-surg, and maternity. Leaving Cortland, Peggy worked as a supervisor at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Glendale, Arizona for five years before moving to Florida and eventually back to Cortland. Before her illness Peggy worked for Franciscan Healthcare and did private homecare in the community. Preceding Peggy in death are her parents, as well as […who?]. Suriving are her son, Jeffrey Schloupt. Also surviving are her brothers, Michael (Janet) Twomey of Cortland; Patrick Twomey of Wyoming, and Daniel Twomey of Jacksonville, Florida. Also ex-husband, Pat Schloupt from Cortland and step-children Patrick, Corey and Jamie Schloupt, and many good friends and relatives. Peggy was always upbeat and positive, even when the chips were down. She was a good and caring mother, nurse and friend. She worked hard and was proud of what she did. Peggy never gave up or felt sorry for herself. We all could learn from her perseverance. There will be no services at this time but perhaps there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Any donations should be made in her name to American Cancer Society.
